your hair on Mounjaro

You have probably already been told this is just the weight loss, not the drug, and that it settles. Both of those are broadly true and neither is much comfort at the time.

What happens is telogen effluvium — a rapid change in intake and body composition pushes a chunk of follicles out of their growth phase at once, and the shed shows up two to three months later, which is why it always feels like it came from nowhere. It is temporary and it is not caused by anything you did wrong.

We are not going to pretend a mask does anything about that part. It does not. This community has already had that argument, publicly and at length, about oral collagen, and won it. We are not turning up with the same pitch in a different bottle.

Here is the part that is ours. The complaint we heard almost as often as the shedding was about the lengths — "it's mainly the lengths below my shoulders", "my hair is like straw". That is a fibre problem, not a follicle one, and it has a different cause: less oil reaching the ends, less coming in nutritionally for a while, and hair that is simply older and drier at the bottom. That, we can help with. Straw-like lengths respond to lipids, proteins and slip in a way that shedding at the root does not.

So: get your ferritin and B12 checked, because that is the highest-value thing you can do, and it is free. And in the meantime, your hair does not have to feel like straw while you wait for the rest to settle.
